The Dukes of Hazzard
March 26th, 2006I feel the need to make a little confession here. Lately, I’ve been watching reruns of “The Dukes of Hazzard” daily on CMT (Country Music Television, and yeah, I’d never heard of it either). Somehow, two “good old boys” wearing the same clothes, driving the same orange car, and reliving variations of the same episode over and over is still pleasing to me.

I say still pleasing because as a child, I grew up watching this show. I can tell you that it was on every Friday at 8pm and that my bedtime was 9pm. And then, it starting running at 9pm, so my bedtime was moved to 10pm. These were great times. I also believe that it was followed by the show “Dallas”. I can still somehow remember this quote from some episode: “this man has suffered more pain than you or I hopefully ever will know.” And that was followed by the show “Falcon Crest”, for which I remember nothing except a chandelier.
But I digress. I find it extremely interesting that I grew up watching a show in which the two protagonists were constantly running from the police, and that somehow this was always a good thing. Just the other day I switched it on and heard, “Oh, what’s he chasing us for now?” “I don’t know, but let’s not find out.”
This, incidentally, is how I feel now. Coincidence? I think not.

Someone’s chasing you?
